Tips for your cake

This is good very special tips I found in the decorating book by Shalini Latour-The Icing On The Cake, Fabulous Decorating Ideas for Simply Stylish Cakes. I want to share this good information with all my friends here.

Correcting Troubleshooting and Special Tips for your cake

Problem  1: Cake didn't rise
Possible Cause: Too much water and oil.
                         Pan too large.
                         Oven temperature too low and/ or cake under-baked.
                         Ingredients under-beaten.
                         Batter sat too long before baking.

Problem 2:Cake shrunk
Possible Cause: Too much water or oil.
                          Oven temperature too high and/ or under-baked.
                          Ingredient over-beaten.

Problem 3: Cake is soggy/dense/heavy
Possible Cause: Cake underbaked and/or removed before done baking.
                         Oven door opened during baking.
                         Too much water and oil.
                          Ingredients under- or over-beaten.

Problem 4: Cake is dry /crumbly
Possible Cause: Oven temperature too high and/ or over-baked.
                         Not enough water, oil or egg.

Problem 5: Cake is split down middle
Possible Cause: Ingredient overbeaten.

Problem 6: Cake ran over sides of pan
Possible Cause: Oven temperature too low
                         Too much batter in pan (fill no more than 2/3 full)
                         Too much water.
                         Pan or oven rack no level.
                         Pan placed off-center in oven.

Problem 7: Cake is sticking to pan
Possible Cause: Pan not greased or lined with parchment paper.
                         Cake not cooled long enough.
                         Cake not loosened with knife or spatula before removing.

Problem 8: Cake is difficult to frost
Possible Cause : Cake not completely cool.
                          Frosting not proper consistency.

Weekend ~ fully with picnic~

We went to picnic last weekend..It can be considered as weekend picnic mood..It is because we went both of the days- Saturday and Sunday.On 13 February we went to picnic with Bro Ziad family and on 14 February with some of Malaysian Palmy.

1. Camp Rangi wood at Totara on 13 February 2010

This Camp Rangi Wood Totara Reserve located at Ashhurst just 30 -45 minutes from our home at Palmy.It was unplanned picnic because the weather not so good in the morning.It was gloomy and rainy day in the morning. 45 minutes before 11 am , Bro Ziad called and invited us to joined them.

Alhamdulillah, Allah pleased our trip. When we reached there, it was sunny and quite windy.So kids had enjoyed themselves there. The activities was lunch, swimming and playing water gun.

I captured wind farm picture on the way back to Palmy. Ashhurst is a small town lies in the heart of Manawatu. At the North of Ashhurst is the Te Apiti Wind Farm, while to the south of Ashhurst are the giant turbines of Tararua Wind Farm.

2. Memorial Park, Palmy

The picnic started at 2 pm after Zuhur Prayer. In addition some of our children (Malaysian- Muslim)were having Islamic Class on Sunday morning.

The activities : swimming, eating, chatting (for parents), playing (mostly for children) and sightseeing.

Cushion cake

Alhamdulillah...semalam saya berjaya siapkan cushion cake untuk makan-makan kat rumah sempena birthday "seseorang"..1 Cushion cake with cute Grey white handbag, satu lagi Cushion cake with assorted flowers...Saya guna kan resepi dari mamafami untuk buat kek coklat tue...sedap...mamafami, saya copypaste resepi kat bwh ni yer..TQ for sharing...


CHOCOLATE CAKE

Ingredient A :

250 g butter
1 cup lukewarm water
1 ½ cup granulated sugar
½ - ¾ cup cocoa powder

Ingredient B :

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon soda bicarbonate

Ingredient C

2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
½ cup evaporated milk/ coffee milk

Method

1. Put ingredients A in a double boiler, heat till the butter melts and cool till lukewarm
2. Sieve ingredient B together
3. Slowly fold in B in A
4. Add in C to 3, mix well, try to avoid clumps. If there are clumps, sieve the mixture.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 160 celsius for 45 mins – 1 hr. For cupcakes, I baked for 27 to 30 minutes.

Weekend activities

Last weekend kinda family precious time- we love to have fun with 2 duos N...They enjoyed themselves with their daddy..I was busy snap their pics...

First Activity : Water Gun Session...

They always love doing activity using water..."pucuk dicita ulam mendatang"

OuR BuSy TiMe...

Busy??..yup..I am....opps..yes we are...

I think all mums whose child/s just entered schooling term must be faced very busy time...
For me this is really good experience....

My new lovely routine:

7.00 am : Prepare breakfast and lunchbox (for those yg ke School and Uni)(kalau ke Uni lah)
( Kalau menu buns for lunch...mlm tu dh kena prepare and bake)
7.30 am : Shower both : especially little one, because Najlaa can manage herself...etc
8.30 am : Walking to West end School together with Najlaa and most of the time with Najmi
too (8.50 am the bell ring)
9.15 am : at home sweet home... doing household chores
10.30 am - 11.45 am : My time surfing, reading cooking book & etc...sambil layan2 si Najmi..
12.00 noon : start cooking for lunch, kitchen work area, pray etc
2.35 pm : Walking to School fetch the eldest
3.15 pm : dah ada di rumah....kids having their lunch meal...
Tengok beg Najlaa...normally she will bring back a book to read.

Kalau kena buat meal yg kena prepare sehari awal, ptg tu dah start kena buat dah...dah 2 hari Kaklong request Sausage buns...memang habis dia mkn for her lunch...Puas hati tengok...So mlm ni tgh buat Sausage buns sambil2 update blog ni...

Her new schedule:

Everyday she brings back a book to read
Every Thursday she brings back her poem book to read
Every Thursday she has swimming lesson
Every Thursday she brings back school newsletter to read
Every Friday (for term 1 only) she has cricket game on the evening
Every Sunday she has Iqra' class from 11.00am - 1.20pm ( Plus performing Zuhur prayer at Islamic Center...mcm Pendidikan Islam juga)
Every Sunday she has Arabic Class from 10.00am to 11.00 am

...mmm...everybody start busy now......

Roti Sosej@Sausage Bun


Saya ambil (copy -paste) resepi ni dari Dapur Suzi, antara kawan-kawan lama ketika mula2 berblogging....dah lama ambil resepi ni kat dapur suzi (yg penuh dgn resepi), masa tu Suzi masih lagi di Adelaide, Australia..Sekarang beliau dan keluarga dah pulang ke Malaysia..baru kali ni berkesempatan mencuba resepi suzi ni..Bila anak dah mula masuk school, morning tea and lunch nak kena prepare, so bnyk skit menu yg mahu dicuba...Thanks ye Minami and Suzi for sharing this recipe.

Bahan-bahan ( 12 biji )

  • 190 ml air
  • 400 gm tepung roti
  • 5 sudu besar gula
  • 1 sudu kecil garam
  • 2 sudu besar susu tepung
  • 1 biji telur ayam
  • 2 sudu kecil yis
  • 60 gm butter
  • **bahan2 lain**
  • 12 batang sosej
  • sos cili
  • cheese

Cara-cara

  1. masukkan bahan2 utk roti ke dalam breadmaker. tekan button on dan tunggu sehingga siap.
  2. bahagikan doh kepada 12 bahagian. bulat2 kan doh tersebut dan biarkan selama 20 minit.
  3. ambil sebiji doh. canaikan
  4. ambil sebatang sosej dan gulung
  5. hiris sosej yg digulung. jgn sampai putus..
  6. tolak kiri dan kanan selang seli.
  7. ulang langkah 3 hingga 6 hingga habis
  8. biarkan doh selama 40 minit.
  9. setelah itu, sapu sos cili dan tabur kan cheese. bakar pada suhu 180 darjah selama 12 minit.
  10. roti siap dibakar..

She with her new life now

Today my little princess not a little princess anymore...From now onwards, she is My@Our Princess...Today is her first day at West end School..With new Barbie bag we walking together to the school (just around 3-5 minutes walking distance). Najlaa in ROOM 16..

(picture at her new school will be uploaded later- dedication to her grandparents,aunties and uncle)

Yesterday was her last day at kindy. She helped me decorating chocolate cake using fondant icing. Elaine :Thanks for the nice cakes..its very yummy..I eat that for my morning tea
Me : Oh..Thank you...you know, Najlaa did the flowers (especially roses) just for her teacher
Elaine : Really..?yes..I believe you...she is good in art. Her skills in art very impressive for 4-5
years old child. I observed her yesterday, how she wrapped a box and decorated it with
some flowers and shapes.
Me : (Smile).She bring back the boxes showed us yesterday...Elaine and all teachers, thanks
everything.
Elaine: You too..Its nice and thanks for being Najlaa and your family here in this kindy.
